EVENT DETAILS

Cellist Loewi Lin of the National Symphony Orchestra will be joined by pianist Christopher Schmitt in a musical exploration of Germanic, Soviet, and Argentine lore. Beethoven’s 4th cello sonata opens with a solo cello line of such innocence, moves through states of impetuous angst and conflict, and culminates in a capricious outpouring of sheer joy. Prokofiev’s work exemplifies a clarity of texture and lyricism in the cello’s melodious lines that bring to mind his operatic proclivities. Piazzolla reinvigorated Argentine tango music, blending it with jazz and classical forms, having studied with Alberto Ginastera while maintaining a friendship with legendary pianist, Arthur Rubenstein.

The price of your ticket includes hors d’oeuvres and drinks from the open wine and beer bar.
